SHOW TIMES CHANGE
Hi everyone,
Just wanted everyone to know that our show times for Friday Night Improv, and Improv A**Hole! will change to 10pm from 3/14 – 4/11. Why the change, you ask? Because our friends from Out of Hand Theater are performing their awesome production called, “Stadium 360″. It’s a hilarious take on sports and thefans that love them. Their show starts at 8pm Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and is followed by The Village Theatre improv shows. Thanks, email the box office with any questions…BLZ

Marc Mooney FAQ
Q: What is improv?
A: According to your spell check, it’s “improve.”
Q: How do you come up with your skits?
A: Skits! I remember skits from Vacation Bible School.
Q: When was your first improv performance?
A: One day during freshman high, I brought a kazoo inside a school assembly to amuse my friends. Taking offense, a teacher pulled me out of my seat and made me perform on the stage for the entire school. I took requests and my first song was AC/DC’s “Hells Bells.” Because I was into Christian rock and adult contemporary, I had no idea how the song went. I made it up and it came out sounding more like smooth jazz.
Q: What’s your day job?
A: When one of my former English teachers found out what I do for a living, she was a little disappointed.
Q: What’s on the ceiling?
A: Remnants of improve.
Opening Weekend
Thanks to everyone who came to our first official shows this past weekend. It feels great to perform in our own space–one that’s fun, inviting and conducive to laughter. Feng shui is important. One misplaced folding chair and our chi deflects to the post office.
I heard the show Friday was great. I got there just in time to see a few people look at me quizzically as they left. I did the show Saturday, and if you were there you might have seen me fall off the stage. I’m still getting my bearings and apparently I need to learn how to use a door and a staircase again. In the first scene of the short form set, I left the stage with some zinger about Guatemala. As I opened the door, I fell to the floor and nearly chi-ed my pants.
The rest of the night was a blur, but I do remember certain things. Drawings in a bathroom. Josh and Mike riding a scooter. McDonald’s at 3 a.m. The ghost of Robert Browning whispering, “God’s in His heaven. All’s right with the world.” and “You didn’t play dialects?”
The Month of OCTOBER
Get ready for an exciting month here at the Village Theatre. In addition to our opening weekend of kick ass improv shows (10/3 & 10/4), we’ve got comedy from Playing in Traffic (every thurs beg. 10/9) as well as Out of Hand Theater’s – The Game (on Oct 18th). So, keep checking our events section, and look forward to our new Calendar Page that is currently in development. As always, for reservations contact our box office at 404-688-8858 or villagecomedy@gmail.com. THANKS!

The Hell of Hello
Hello, I’m Marc Mooney and I’m a half-assed misanthrope. I hate meeting new people, so let me welcome you to Village Theatre from behind the mini-blinds of this blog.
Maybe one day we’ll meet in person. If that happens, expect the following:
I’ll look at you askance and assume you’re looking for someone else or the bathroom. You’ll say “good show” and I’ll say “thanks.” I’ll sweat and stare at the exit.
But somehow, when all seems lost, we’ll stumble upon some common ground: probably some form of mass media. I’ll love you. Probably too much. I’ll exhaust every possible joke to be made about The Weather Channel, but you won’t mind because you’ll love me, too. We’ll laugh at Storm Stories and I’ll burn with shame for wanting to hide from you earlier. I’ll remind myself that people are wonderful once you get to know them, and I’ll vow to be more open to new people and conversations.
Until I meet your friends.
